Study is good but it doesn't mean study with good certificates ensure u of a good job. Long gone are the days when having a secure job means a good stable life. In this 21st century, this is not true anymore. Now is the time to be entrepreneurship whether u like or not because, the world is moving very fast and if we do not catch up with time, we will be left behind. Nokia CEO once said something like we didn't do anything wrong, but somehow we failed. It's true

I take the easiest part-time uni course that has little or no weightage for assignments which is - MATHS degree!

It's easier because we spend less time working towards completion of the degree. Here's why -

We only study for exams. Studying is maybe 1 hour daily.

On the other hand, degrees with assignments will bog you down with team assignments which average to about 4-5 hours twice a week. Individual reports would require us to study content about an hour daily.

So there you go.. the easy way out getting a degree..

Its better to study something that will land you a better job in the future.
Studying is a lifelong process...
  ;)

I would recommend taking certification that is relevant, as Little Sotong mentioned, PMP is one of them.

If you are in HR or Finance, perhaps also you can take up SAP certification , people with process/business knowledge and system knowledge are in demand nowadays cause ( People Process and Tech work hand in hand together )  - all three are related and inter dependent.

Check out www.clearadvant.com school that offers SAP certification from SAP , if you are curious what is SAP about.

SAP consultants are consistently paid higher in the market also.

if i want to improve my prospects in life,
what studies or courses should i take?

i tried going for MBA preview at SMU, the head of MBA is this indian guy, very smart.. i feel can learn a lot at their MBA, but my colleagues told me MBAs are useless now....  :(

It really depends on what you want to achieve in your end-state career. To be honest, if you are looking at a general administrative, back office role, a specialised degree or cert is not necessary. But there are some roles that need specialisation or cert, you should then try to find out how to get those certs and then get an internship for those roles.

Read some self improvement books to gain more knowledge.
For skills wise, you might want to see which career path are you heading to and find a course to upskill and be prepared when opportunity comes

Hem, there's no best course. You have to see what is your area of expertise or what interest you the most.
