I think I'm way too early in my life stages to ask this - is there any way to keep healthy and fit with pregnancy going on? My mom used to tell me that she had such a hard time resisting hunger pangs and temptations for really sinful, sultry good food.

Damn I think I'd be those momma that you imagine in the yo-mama jokes haha.

actually keep on feeling hungry is normal because your body is working twice as hard even you are sleeping. craving for food is also normal because your baby will tell you what is lacking and ask you to eat.

so in order to be healthy, eat small meals every 2 to 3 hours. want to eat laksa, hokkien mee, or any unhealthy food also ok, but dun eat until you full. eat until you are not hungry, you can stop already. before eating, drink some water. sometimes thirsty and hungry comes hand in hand.

I think before pregnancy, you must be already keeping healthy and fit. Because if you seldom exercise in the past and then suddenly wanting to exercise when you are pregnant, it will be more dangerous leh...

then you are eating too much, that's why gynae ask you to slow down
if you are eating correctly, it will be slower.. any pregnancy books you read will have the data that 2nd trimester should be the fastest rate.

that's why alot of pregnant ladies is doing it wrong.. alot of people doing it, don't mean is correct especially the gynae told you that you are gaining too much. like alot of pregnant ladies say pregnant definitely will become fat, which is wrong. if you doing it right, you will be gaining weight not becoming fat. alot of pregnant ladies say pregnant must eat double portion or as much as possible which is wrong too.

books info is not just a guide especially they are written by doctors. fact is fact, so is not a guideline. for example for a singleton, your newborn is 4kg + placental 0.5kg + water bag 1kg + fat stored in body 3kg = 8.5kg. so you should max gain 10kg. if your weight gain is 45kg to 80kg like Qiu Qiu the blogger. obviously you are being unhealthy.

i will see how it goes... even now last week of my 2nd trimester, i'm gaining 0.5kg per week... seriously i can't imagine gaining 2kg per week especially the growth for twin will significantly reduce at week 34. .if the 2kg is not going to the babies, definitely is going to the mother

p.s: anyway i'm a textbook mum. everything i will research, compile, propose and follow until my SO bth.. he keep saying we are asian, not ang mo.. coz the books i read all wrote by ang mo doctors

I was like you lor, i also read alot preggy books when i planning my first child, read alot info, but until i gave birth and realise books are really just for reference .

Just like books say babies pull to stand at 10-11mo, my daughter did it at 6mo plus, while my boys around 11mo. And books said boys usually faster

But anyway i didnt gain alot for my pregnancies. Like some 30- 40kg is really alot leh. i only gained max 10kg cos i gained 2-3kg during 2nd tri, only last tri double, gained 6-7kg

And i think we off topic. This thread should be normal ppl weight loss, not pregnancy weight gain, haha.

Yes the title describes it!

Eating more often doesn't necessarily mean an increase in food quantity. Split the meals (total calories intake) to smaller portions throughout the day and reduce the total intake to be less than the calories your body burns daily to sustain day to day activities.

Why? Cos if you eat lesser meals, your body may risk slipping into starvation mode as it detects the lack of food so it will store fats instead of burning more of them to last through the starving period. That's why usually people finds it tougher and tougher to lose weight by eating lesser meals as they age cos their body is constantly in starvation mode.

Any other alternatives to natural healthy weight loss? Let's discuss!

@nomnom

woman no need to eat so much. your body doesnt need so many calories.

Eat real food to lose weight! I was watching this video about eating real food to lose weight. It says that only real food can be broken down and digested. Artificial food are stored as fats as they cannot be broken down. It talks about eating right to lose weight.

Eggs is real food. Don't consume anything that says it's artificial - artificial sweetener, artificial flavouring/enhancer etc. And any ingredient that you can't pronounce, don't eat.

My overweight friend went to a dietitian who planned her meals for her and she managed to lose 10 kg when she followed the plan faithfully. Surprisingly, the dietitian told her to avoid brown rice!

Yes, let's discuss.

I am trying to avoid artificial food - basically food that come in boxes, cans and packets!

It's ok to eat a lot while being pregnant, you need the energy. What you shouldn't do, generally, is to drink sugary drinks. Drink tea or water, this is best for your body. Wishing you a healthy baby! :D
