INGAPORE: A 16-year-old boy was found dead at the foot of a block in Jurong West on Friday (Jan 12).

Police said they were alerted to a case of unnatural death at 3.43pm at Blk 276D Jurong West Street 25. The boy was found lying motionless and was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.

A Channel NewsAsia reader, who asked to remain anonymous, said he was picking up his child at a nearby kindergarten when he saw the incident. The boy was wearing a school uniform, the reader said.

Police investigations are ongoing.

On Saturday, the principal of Westwood Secondary School in Jurong said the boy was a former student of the school.

"We are deeply saddened by this tragedy," said Abdul Harris Sumardi.

WACO, Texas (KWTX) Waco police were looking for a short, heavyset suspect Thursday after a teenager who hatched a plan to rob another teen ended up as the robbery victim.

The teenage victim arranged to meet with the second teen Wednesday evening at the Tennyson Middle School track at North 60th Street and Glasgow Drive on the pretense of selling him marijuana, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said Thursday.

“The juvenile’s plan was to grab the potential weed buyer’s money and then outrun the heavyset customer, “Swanton said.

But things didn’t turn out quite as planned, he said.

The second teen pulled out a gun and robbed the would-be robber of his cellphone.

Police are looking for a boy who’s 15 to 16 years of age, weighs about 150 pounds and stands about 5-foot-2.

He’s black with light skin, has an Afro and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, gray shorts and running shoes.

The teenager turned victim was released to his grandparents, Swanton said.

News, Current Affairs Discussions / Eric Clapton: 'I'm Going Deaf'
« Last post by MariaSharpie on January 13, 2018, 02:56:07 pm »

Eric Clapton revealed that he was going deaf while discussing his ongoing health issues and the difficulties of playing guitar in his Seventies during an interview with BBC 2.
Clapton noted he plans to keep performing live, but said, "The only thing I'm concerned with now is being in my Seventies and being able to be proficient. I mean, I'm going deaf, I've got tinnitus, my hands just about work. I'm hoping that people will come along and see me just because, or maybe more than because I'm a curiosity. I know that is part of it, because it's amazing to myself I'm still here."

Clapton has been open about the health issues that have impeded his playing over the past few years (his 2016 album, I Still Do, notably featured a photo of him playing guitar with fingerless gloves, as a result of eczema). In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Clapton said of his guitar playing, "I'm as good now as I've been in the last two years," but acknowledged, "playing is difficult anyway. I have to get on the bottom of the ladder every time I play guitar, just to tune it. Then I have to go through the whole threshold of getting calluses [on the fingers] back, coordination."

Deutsche Bank’s chief executive expects to move far fewer than 4,000 jobs to Frankfurt following Britain’s departure from the European Union, he told Swiss daily Neue Zuercher Zeitung.

Deutsche Bank is headquartered in Frankfurt, but has large operations in the UK with 8,600 staff based there.

“The 4,000 number that comes up again and again in media reports is much too high,” John Cryan was quoted as saying in the paper’s Saturday edition, adding that initially several hundreds of jobs will be created in Frankfurt, but also in other cities such as Milan and Paris.

“Mainly bankers, technology experts and traders work in London and they want to stay there,” Cryan was quoted as saying. “The booking center will move for sure, but that affects less jobs than many think.”
