This is exactly what HSA does - post market surveillance.

Unfortunately it is only picking up issues after the fact or when something bad happens/adverse reactions from consumers.

They could go to a stricter pre-registration before sale regulatory regime but this would kill a lot of carousell and on-line sellers by making it onerous for their business

"D" is for Delicious ....  :P

Which is why anyone can declare anything, pay admin fee, and hv it on shelf until someone consumes it and lodge a complain den start to check and recall...

Best is sudden batch inspection ..

That's y I only purchase brands which hv been existent for many many years

I mean to prevent undeclared substance need to have more frequent checks.

never buy any such products from online. I remember there was a advertisement about that, mediacorp should have post this advertisement often to remind people about it and having lots of advertisement pasted in public.

On shelf too, stricter regulatory framework

A woman now suffers from severe heart failure after she consumed a weight loss product that contains an undeclared banned substance, the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) said on Monday (Jun 3).

The product, marketed as BB Body, is one of four products that have caused "serious adverse reactions" in consumers, and members of the public are advised to not purchase or consume the products, HSA said.
