Priority queues to be implemented at MRT stations

while I agree with the spirit of the implementation,  I'm ambivalent with regards to allowing parents with strollers .... I think under certain situations,  strollers or perambulators are dangerous for both parents and commuters especially during peak hours.

many a times, I have seen commuters trip over strollers,  seen strollers almost crushed by doors,  preventing other commuters from making timely and orderly exits from the train cabins.

in fact, strollers always seem to be in the way.

I don't argue that strollers are a "life-saver" but i think they shouldn't be allowed during peak hours.  Just my POV.

the reason why its peak hours is also because that time happens to be the peak hours where EVERYONE travels... including pple on wheelchair, senior citizens, moms with babies... ^.^
granted, strollers do take up more space than 2 adult standing, but i dont see it as such a big deal that we prefer them not to come in at peak hours...

Off-peak hours as defined by SMRT

Weekdays: before 6.30am • 9.01am to 4.59pm • after 7.30pm
Weekends & Public Holidays: whole day

'Nuff said

Peak hours are when economically productive people travel to work in my POV

Let me correct myself - opened strollers should be banned during those times.

I think taking a taxi would be a better option for parents with strollers.

Likewise people with large luggages should also be banned.

If SMRT bans folding bikes of certain dimensions, they ought to be consistent.

Make it mandatory for strollers to be folded if they are allowing them on the trains during peak hours.

exactly what i have been arguing against. peak hour is abt people for people...
this is the same logic as our economic-efficient gov in only giving transport subsidies to senior citizens during OFF-peak hours.
if its not economically active, off you go.

if strollers are blocking economic active people like you from a 0.01% chance of being blocked, then lets BAN them all!!

as I said,  strollers should be folded during peak hours.

and we should also think about the safety of the toddlers,  in case they are "crushed" by the train doors or in case the parents get careless when traversing the platform gap or up the escalators.  there has been far too many incidents on the MRT lately.

PS:  who do you think is paying for the subsidized train fares?  economically productive people eventually
