Recommendations for gel starter kits?
« on: August 16, 2016, 01:46:50 pm »
Hi! anyone doing their nails at home, any good DIY gel polish kits to recommend? :) I have checked out the etude house and sephora ones so far and they require base as well as top coat. anywhere is sg sells the version without base/top?

at one point i was tempted to buy my own set and do my own gelish. until i realise (after doing it at salons twice) that gelish really makes my nails cui.
i think i rather stick to standard nail polishes.

@MiaMia I bought my own set from taobao  8) i prefer to diy paint and remove. It's better on the nails cos u can be more gentle on your own nails.

I used to change my nail polish every week... now I'm so lazy that I dont even paint my nails for months. So gel nails are good for me cos it can last almost 3 weeks, when I actually do it.

I'm using Qttie.
I got it when they had a roadshow at my office some time ago.

The lady told me that many gels in the market has alot of chemicals. so it is not safe for long term usage, esp cus we eat with our hands etc. she said they got do lab test for their brand, and dont have the chemicals. Can't rmb what else she said.

But ya, same as @MiaMia , I told the girl that gels always make my nails spoilt when remove. The girl said not supposed to! I tried Qttie gel. and so far so good.

A bit pricy, but still cheaper than go salon. Very fast and easy to ownself do.

@Natalie Tan , it does not need base and top coat. If you havent buy, then can try. They are selling on Shopee now.

Hope this helps.
