Yup need. My house got all cove light down light and track lights.

My track lights emit a lot of heat in my opinion, and the lights are dim. 5 bulbs to light up the whole study room, but that makes it relaxing.

Depends on the feel you want to go for lor. All are quite nice.

Oh thank you. Is your track light LED? I wonder if LED will emit heat like the normal bulb.

Much less heat ... typical LEDs are 3 watts to 9 watts.  The lowest halogen wattage is 20 watts

Yup. Just use all LED - cost effective and good. My parents renovated the house 10 years ago so all my lights are still bulb and halogen lighting.

And if you use a dimmer with your halogen, please note that you can only replace them with special LEDs suited to work with them or you'll ruin the "starter" or "transformer" or "watchamacallit"

Most of the time, its actually the "starter" or "transformer" which is spoilt first and not the LED strips/bulbs... And when that is spoilt, you need to change the whole thing liao...
The above is what i learnt from Renotalk but i am not sure if it is true or not.
I am using LED light bulbs. So far, have been more than a year and my LED light bulbs are still ok.
