How much is your household income?
« on: October 18, 2015, 10:40:15 am »
Hi everyone, this is my first maiden post. Feels great to see so many sisters here.

I am married for near 20 years, 3 kids and a housewife. We are happy little frugal family. He earn a good salary but we do not have big debts. We stay extremely simple and save 70% of annual cash after tax and spending.

Of late, I am interested to find out if we are on the right path and can we afford a little bit more on the lifestyle. So, I wonder how much is the general household income vs saving to be staying and spending a little less thrifty in Singapore.

Do share okie?

Hi babe, I think that comparison isn't always useful. Should see what your family feels. As long as you have sufficient savings (e.g. to survive for 2 years without job), the rest is up to you i feel.

70% of the income is a lot. If only we could save that much too.

It need not stay that way. If you like a particular country that much, maybe you can consider immigrating there? just a suggestion

70% is A LOT.

We save very little and have 2 kids, we give the best to them, stay in a private 3-bedroom condominium and spend without thinking much, and save about 10% of annual household income only.

I guess the only way to keep ourselves motivated is to always strive to earn more. Instead of always planning effective resource allocation strategies, we simply work very, very hard to try and expand those resources.

Sorry. I am amused by this saving "70% after taxes and spending"
What does that mean?

very hard to answer you , since you are purposely so secretive, but want to dig out other people's information.

asking for other people's income, when you dont even say your own. or even what you spend on, what kind of house and transport you have etc. what the heck??
