Fasting Diets Are Gaining Acceptance
« on: March 19, 2016, 08:10:41 am »
Read this in today's TODAY.  I never thought fasting will have any health benefits or even aids weight loss.  Then again, it's not really conclusive.

Those angmohs eat too much liao.
They definitely need to eat less!
I really feel that if everybody eats 2000 calories a day, eveeybody will grow fat. I think 1500 calories make more sense.

Sounds like it makes sense to not eat breakfast and limit feeding to a specific window of the day though. Our ancestors (long long long time ago, think stone age) never did eat three meals a day and had to go through long periods of fasting before the next meal came around.

but there's this vegan bully australian couple who claims to eat up to 51 bananas a day and still remain slim and lean. 51 bananas is hell lot of calories leh.
i'm usually hovering between 1000 to 1200 a day, excluding my junk food snacking.  8)

I think our bodies are highly adaptable.  put it into a fasting situation and it will try to shut-down other activities to conserve energy and resources, some of which might be detrimental to other bodily functions even as you lose weight by burning first glycogen stored in the liver and eventually body fats and protein (aka muscles).  and when you start eating again, it will try to make-up for the earlier fast by trying to store as much glycogen and fats in anticipation of the next fast.

I think controlling intake is much more sensible IMPOV.

I am afraid my body becomes reliant on fasting so I always have to be uncomfortable to maintain my weight! I'd rather find some other means of burning those calories away
