Singapore is the world's most expensive city for the second year running, according to the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU).

Here's how Singapore compares to New York:
- 11 per cent more expensive for basic groceries.
- Over 50 per cent more expensive for clothes. Together with Seoul, the most expensive place in the world to shop for clothes.
- Three times more expensive for transport - after factoring in the effect of Certificate of Entitlement system on car prices.

We are requesting for volunteers who can work with us. Please PM me if you are keen. This is just simple task that has a meaningful, positive impact on our community.

It will be great if you can provide more info in the public space. Thanks.

Actually, I worked in China for like 9years and I realised that most things in Singapore is actually cheaper compared to China....
my income tax is like 40% (monthly auto deduct....somemore).. compare singapore tax rate?
The apartment I bought (luckily in 2007) for 17k/sqm (87sqm), today is selling at 48k/sqm... look at the the property inflation in the span of 9years!!!!!!!
Buy the same cup of starbucks in China, you end up paying additional S$1 per cup in China compared to SG!
Macdonalds set meal, price almost same as SG... but, the cup of coke they give is CHILDREN size cup.

Please compare the income vs the necessities.
example (WITHOUT CURRENCY CONVERSION):
Generally working in SG salary per month SGD2-3k (not talking about super white collars, or low blue collars... just the middle general working class..)
Eat at foodcourt per meal with drinks S$5-6.
Buy HDB S$400k

Working in China, Salary per month RMB 6-7k (SHANGHAI AND BEIJING on the middle general working class)
Eat at foodcourt per meal with drinks RMB 30
Buy apartment RMB 3MILLION.
Above comparision is based on 2016 situation.

So without currency conversion, are you sure SG is more expensive city?
