Errrrmmmm.... i don't see what's the problem? ???

His choice is straightforward.
(1)  serve NS if he ever wants to return to singapore

(2)  don't serve NS if he never ever wants to set foot in singapore

Why must kpkb to MP and the press?  Is he stupid or simply no balls to serve NS? ???

PS:  if choose option 2 must make sure never to go to Europe or China with transit route via singapore. Or that the plane never has to make emergency landing here. They'll arrest you the moment you land in changi.

Despite the fact that he can't give up his sg citizenship until 21, his parents shld hv known better to let keep his dual citizenship until now.

I know what you mean - BTH those people who subvert the rules to suit their purposes and then choose to KPKB when the rules are against them ......  >:(

I think the point is not the SG citizenship (i'm sure he will be happy to retain his NZ citizenship) but that he wants to be able to travel freely to SG in future for work or to visit his maternal grandparents.

Unless he gets exemption,  he can no longer land in Singapore - even on transit.

the crux of the matter is that he cannot even get an employment pass from MOM.   he can no longer come to Singapore.  he has said goodbye to Singapore forever.  even if his maternal grandparents are lying on their death-beds, he can only video-conf with them.

I think its difficult not to set foot in Sg for the rest of his lives. Most planes in Nz will stopover at sg to refuel and continue its journey elsewhere.

why do you think they are KPKB now?  ;)

my cousin can only meet his relatives in JB.  every time he flies to Malaysia for CNY.  relatives have to drive to JB to meet him.
