Carousell or Carouhell??

Im a seller, so mostly horror stories about buyers!
but please.. do share horror stories too if you are a buyer!

I guess lowballers stories are very common.

I will share abt my dress sales. I have a nice piece I worn only once. Bought at about $90.
Was trying to sell for $30.
There is this user, who asked me to take photos for her. she asked about my size and stuff to see if she is a good match with the dress (she is! how coincidentally!)
I had a few photos (instagram when i first bought the dress) of me in the dress, so i sent it to her.
And she asked me to pose more and more.... and want me to show the dress with my face.

So i was saying, why would you need my face to be present in the photo.
she said it is important to get the feel, if i am cute, sexy or sweet looking.
so that she can tell if the dress fits her well.

until i feel... that its not a "her".
my friend told me probably a tikopeh  >:(

you know whats the amazing thing, im not even pretty! i dont have a solid body or what.
just a normal body with fats here and there... i dont even understand why would he wanna beo...
damn gross.

err... carouhell....

I am a little bit of a shopoholic, so that puts me as a frequent buyer AND seller as well (because need to sell away those impulse purchases).

AS BUYER
  • Can be hard to find stuff because of the weak search and ranking system. Basically, it throws up any listing with the keyword so it is susceptible to gaming by sellers who keyword spam at the bottom of their listing. I have found animals while searching for exercise equipment before, don't ask me how. The ranking is also based on which item is liked most recently i.e the most recently liked item gets pushed to the top. This is usually gamed by people who keep repost Like for Like listings. The downside is that these ppl are willing to invest the time in these reposts so they will want their time's worth and usually have higher prices.
  • The habitual latecomer who is late for meetups by an hour. I usually opt for delivery since anything below $10 is worth saving an hour for, even if you work at McDonald's
  • The missing package when I opt for delivery! I think the downside is that these guys don't really have a brand image to protect, so the stakes for cheating their customers are much lower. Imagine if Nike did not deliver a parcel and turned you away rudely. PR disaster.
  • DO NOT try to find products for which quality is crucial because you will likely end up with something that doesn't work. I made a mistake ordering a foam roller from carousell, which cracked in about a month. Also got a pack of envelopes which had adhesive that doesn't work..

SELLER
  • LOWBALLERS! There are really people who ask to purchase your product at 40% of the stated price! THat means that Carousellers have to price their product at more than 2x its fair price to begin with? No idea what is going on in the heads of these people.
  • Buyers who agree to meet up and cancel when you are already there - much more common than you think! My policy now is to request payment by bank xfer before meeting up. ANother way is to have free delivery so that you save yourself the time and (financial and security) risk of meeting up
  • Keep getting pushed back by those retailers who game with the Like for Like reposts. As a casual seller selling off my preloved goods, I do not have the same time to keep gaming the system for 1 single sale.
